Dr. Monika Metzger is a full member at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the Departments of Oncology and Global Pediatric Medicine. Her primary clinical focus is treating pediatric lymphoma patients, particularly those with Hodgkin lymphoma, and understanding the late effects of treatment. She has led the Pediatric Hodgkin lymphoma Consortium for over a decade, and is now mentoring a junior faculty to take this on.
In addition, Dr. Metzger is the regional director for Central and South America for the St Jude Global Alliance. As director, Dr. Metzger oversees the partnerships in that region to help improve local pediatric cancer care. Furthermore, and in her capacity as lymphoma expert, she has helped the region develop a protocol for Hodgkin lymphoma that is being used throughout Latin America.
Dr. Metzger earned her doctorate of medicine from Rheinisch-Westfaelisch Technische Hochschule in Aachen, Germany. She joined St. Jude in 2002 to pursue her fellowship in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology and joined the faculty in 2005.
