Prof. Hany Ariffin

Professor Hany Ariffin is senior consultant and head of the paediatric haematology- oncology and bone marrow transplantation unit at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre, in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Her main research interest is in the biology and treatment of childhood leukemias and she has been the Malaysian lead for the Malaysia-Singapore (MASPORE) Childhood Leukemia Study Group for the past 18 years. Her other research areas include childhood cancer survivorship, stem cell transplantation and inherited cancers, particularly related to mutations in the tumour suppressor gene, TP53. Professor Hany is a past  president of the Malaysian Society of Paediatric Haematology-Oncology and a member of the Asian Childhood Cancer Alliance where together with colleagues and organizations, works to improve the outcome of children with cancer in the region whilst ensuring equitable treatment for all irrespective of socio- economic standing.
